Carl English scored 21 points to help Gran Canaria Grupo Dunas to beat EnBW Ludwigsburg 71-90 on the road on Tuesday night in Group G. Gran Canaria used an amazing shooting performance in the fourth quarter to outscore the hosts 36-20 and eran the victory, which keeps the islanders tied for the top spot in the group along with Asvel Basket at 5-2. Meanwhile EnBW Ludwigsburg remains winless. Next week Gran Cnaria hosts BC Kalev/Cramo, while Ludwigsburg welcomes Asco Slask Wroclaw. Joel Freeland nailed 15 for the winners, Sergio Perez added 12 and Roberto Guerra and Marcus Norris added 10 apiece. Ronald Ross was the main contributor for Ludwigsburg with 17 points, Heiko Schaffartzik collected 12 and Coleman Collins posted 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Freeland led Gran Canaria to an early 5-9 lead, but Schaffartzik put Ludwigsburg in front 10-9 by scoring from downtown. However the game remained balanced when Jason Dourisseau hit from mid range to tie it at 15-15. English fueled the visitors along with Sitapha Savane, who scored a free throw to make it 15-20 for Gran Canaria after 10 minutes. Perez extended the difference to 17-24 at the beginning of the second quarter, but Collins kept Ludwigsburg alive from downtown, getting the host back within 28-31, before Kornel David gave Gran Canaria its first double-digit cushion of the night, 28-38, which led into a 31-40 halftime advantage. Michel Ferreria helped Ludwigsburg climb to 35-40 at the beginning of the third quarter, but Jim Moran from downtown made it 39-47. Ross cut it to 3 again and the third quarter ended with the visitors up 51-54. Guerra opened the fourth quarter from downtown. David McCray and Nate Harris fueled EnBW, but the guests had the players to answer and Norris powered Gran Canaria to a 55-65 margin at the midway point of the last quarter. McCray tried to stay alive from long distance, but Norris also scored from downtown to make it 58-70. Gran Canaria seemed to be in control of the game when Freeland from mid range made it 62-77 with three minutes left. Perez scored 5 in a row, while only Ross tried to fuel Ludwigsburg as Gran Canaria easily managed the final minutes on the way to a second away win.

Head Coaches

POROPAT, SILVANO
Ludwigsburg
"Congratulations to (Gran Canaria Grupo Dunas head coach) Salva Maldonado. Gran Canaria was able to increase its intensity, especially in the last quarter. We were without Brandon Woudstra and Nils Mittmann tonight, so it was hard for us to win. Gran Canaria had the deeper bench and high quality players."
MALDONADO, SALVA
Kalise Gran Canaria
"Ludwigsburg played well in the beginning. We changed our defense late in the third quarter and were able to carry on scoring. We haven't won a road game in the Spanish League so far, so we are happy to win here to get confidence and do the same in our domestic competition."

Players

ROSS, RONALD
