CSU Asesoft Ploiesti remained alive in the race to advance to the next round by topping Igokea Aleksandrovac 84-74 in Group E. Asesoft is tied for the fourth place with Lukoil Academic Sofia at 3-5, while Igokea fell to 2-6. Alhaji Mohammed paced the winners with 24 points, Gerald Lee amassed 23 points on 10-of-12- two-point shooting plus 6 rebounds for an index rating of 31 and Rawle Marshall collected 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 5 assists for an index rating of 29. Nemanja Gordic was the main contributor for Igokea Aleksandrovac with 14 points, Milan Dozet chipped in 13, while Sergerio Gipson and Dusko Bunic nailed 10 each.

A jumper by Catalin Burlacu gave a 10-4 margin to the home team early in the game. Bunic’s layup tied it at 10-10 before a 15-0 run for CSU Ploiesti, highlighted by Marshall’s 6 points bridged the first two quarters and gave a large 29-14 advantage to the hosts. Mohammed extended the cushion to 36-19 from downtown, before a dunk by Lee made it a 20-point game. Back-to-back dunks by Bunic and Dozet fixed the scoreboard at 48-32 for the hosts at halftime. Early in the third quarter, Dozet’s slam made it 50-38, and after a layup by Gordic, the visitors came within 54-43. Ploiesti responded with another 8-0 run capped by Chris Dunn for a 62-43 advantage. Igokea reacted strong with a 2-13 run to get as close as 66-56 after 30 minutes on a three pointer by Goran Gajovic. Early in the last quarter, Mohammed’s three-point-play made it 69-56, but another 10-4 run for the visitors helped them to 73-66 at the midway point of the quarter. Burlacu, from beyond the arc, and Mohammed’s jumper raised the cushion to 80-68. A Dunn layup and Lee free throws sealed the home team’s victory.
