KK Bosna kept alive its own hopes for reaching the elimination rounds from Group A with a 88-77 home victory against Siauliai on Wednesday that also made two teams from other groups happy. Bosna's victory raised its record to 3-5 while holding Siauliai to the same, tying both for fourth place in their group. The byproduct of the victory was that any team in the whole 54-competition with six victories will now reach the elimination rounds, which served to qualify Group G leader Gran Canaria and Group H leader BC Kyiv for the next round. Dzenan Rahimic paced Bosna with 16 points, while Edin Bavcic buried 4 of 7 three-pointers on his way to 14. Lance Williams and Bryan Bailey added 13 points each for the winners. Siauliai got 20 points each from Antonio Grant and 19 from Donatas Zavackas, while Saulius Kuzminskas chipped in 10.

Bosna started with a 5-0 lead on Goran Ikonic's three-pointer and soon was up 13-5 on baskets by Dzenan Rahimic and another long-range strike by Edin Bavcic. Siauliai regrouped quickly, however, with Marius Prekevicius sparking a 0-9 go-ahead run from downtown on the way to a 19-19 tie after one quarter. It stayed close, even after Quemont Greer boosted Bosna back in front by 25-20 early in the second quarter. Siauliai tied again at 27-27 before five different Bosna scorers filled a 10-0 run for the home fans. Siauliai didn't wilt, however, as Jose Olivero canned a triple and Donatas Zavackas a pair in the final minute, including one on the buzzer that left a 40-38 scorebard at halftime. Bosna used defense and another Bavcic triple to rebuild a 46-38 advantage. This time, Siauliai had trouble boundcing back. The lead hit 50-40 on free throws by Bryan Bailey and 58-47 on his basket late in the quarter. But there was still time for Antonio Grant and Prekevicius to combine on 8 points and keep Siauliai as close as 64-58 after 30 minutes. Bosna kept Siauliai at a distance early in the final quarter as Muhamed Pasalic and Suad Sehovic made three-pointers for a 74-61 lead. Grant, Kuzminskas and Gediminas Maceina kept knocking at the door of a comeback for Siauliai, trimming the difference to 83-76 before points dried up for both teams in the next-to-last minute. Bavcic ended the drought with his fourth three-pointer, ending all doubt that Bosna lives to fight another day.
