Cliff Hammonds - Alba Berlin - EC13 (photo Basket Zaragoza - Esther Casas)Already qualified Alba Berlin pulled away in the second half, downing BCM Gravelines 72-83, and clinching first place in Group D on Tuesday. Alba improved to 7-2, and has beaten Gravelines, which drops to 6-3, in both head-to-head clashes. The Berliners started pulling late in the third quarter. After score being tied at 50-50, Vojdan Stojanovski scored 10 points during run that lifted Alba to 57-71, paving a way to victory. Stojanovski finished with 21 points, Reggie Redding had 17, and Leon Radosevic scored 15 for Alba. Jonathan Rousselle netted 16 points for the hosts. Ousmane Camara had 13 points plus 9 rebounds, while Marcus Lewis scored 12 in defeat.

John Holland, Steven Gray and Rousselle buried triples for the hosts to start the game, but Radosevic and Levon Kendall kept the pace from close range, and Alex King from long range helped Alba to 9-13. After Cliff Hammonds and Rousselle traded threes, Stojanovski and Radosevic extended it to 16-23 after 10 minutes. Back-to-back three-pointers from Yannick Bokolo and Rousselle cut it to 1 at the start of the second quarter. Jan-Hendrick Jagla scored from downtown for the visitors, but a pair from behind the arc from Juby Johnson put Gravelines up 31-30. Teams continued trading leads, and as Camara scoring 6 points for the hosts, on the other end Redding scored from the distance, and Radosevic added a couple of baskets from close range and 41-41 at halftime. Both teams had a slow start to the third quarter. Holland's triple tied it at 48-48, but the one Stojanovski hit for Alba sparked a run that, with baskets from Hammonds, Redding and Kendall, got the visitors to 55-61 at the end of the third quarter. Stojanovski opened the fourth quarter with a jumper and a triple, and after a three-pointer from Redding, a fastbreak layup from Stojanovski made it 57-71. Bokolo hit a three-pointer for the hosts, but Redding answered right back with his third triple, and assisted Jonas Wohlfarth for a layup and 62-78, putting the game out of reach. A basket-plus-foul made it Stojanovski 64-81, the biggest margin of the night, before the hosts cut the deficit in the closing minutes.
