Buducnost Voli Podgorica finished its Eurocup campaign on a winning note, holding off Khimik Yuzhne 91-87 in Montenegrin capital on Wednesday. Already-eliminated Buducnost finished with a 3-7 record in the fifth place of Group F, while previously qualified Khimik, despite a loss, stayed in the second place with 6-4 record. Nikola Ivanovic paced the winners with 14 points and 6 assists. William Coleman, Aleksa Popovic and Bojan Subotic scored 13 apiece, while Cedomir Vitkovac contributed with 12 points in victory. Matt Gatens netted 24 points on 5 of 7 three-point shooting for Khimik. Romeo Travis scored 16, Rolands Freimanis had 11, and Jamal Shuler 10 points in defeat.

Travis got the visitors' offense going with 8 points for 8-10 lead. Ivanovic and Aleksa Popovic hit three-pointers on the other end, but Freimanis had a triple, a block and a layup for 16-18. Gatens triple helped extend it to 16-22 at the start of the second, but Buducnost went inside often, and with a dunk from Coleman and a pair of driving layup from Aleksa Popovic stayed in touch. Vladimir Mihailovic scored from long range for the hosts' lead, and a fastbreak layup from Aleksa Popovic capped a 9-0 run for 33-28. Triples from Vitkovac and Subotic helped the hosts build 46-39 halftime lead, and a triple from Marko Popovic early in the third got Buducnost to 51-41. But Travis scored twice from close range, and Shuler hit one from behind the arc in a ensuing 0-9 run, and Shuler’s basket-plus-free throw tied it at 53-53. With more triples from Subotic, Ivanovic and Suad Sehovic, Buducnost took 70-62 into the fourth quarter, and a triple from Vitkovac made it 77-65. But Gatens buried couple of threes, and after Subotic scored a pair of jumpers, Gatens’ hit his third and fourth triple of the quarter, cutting it to 86-81 with less than 90 second remaining. But Coleman made a basket-plus-foul, and Ivanovic split free throws twice, but it was enough to seal the deal.
