Bisons Loimaa gave their fans some last highlights in a 93-89 overtime victory over Panionios Athens to close out the Finnish champs’ first Eurocup campaign. Down 3 in the closing seconds, John Williamson was sent to the free throw line, where he made the first, intentionally missed the second and Frank Robinson was able to put it in and force overtime at 80-80. Williamson and Robinson took charge in the extra session, combining for all of the club’s 13 points to secure the win. Bisons finish the Eurocup Regular Season in fourth place in Group H with a 5-5 record, ultimately missing the Last 32 on the narrowest of tiebreakers to Radnicki Kragujevac. Robinson led Bisons with 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Williamson added 24 points and Mikko Koivisto scored 12 in defeat. Panionios slipped to 6-4, but finished the group in second place and advanced to Last 32 Group L. Errick McCollum led the attack with 23 points, Uros Duvnjak added 17, Kevin Langford scored 14 and Alexandros Kryitsis 13.

The game was close early. More than five minutes passed before Williamson’s dunk gave Bisons the game’s first two-basket lead, 10-6. A Robinson tip-in made it a 6-point edge, but McCollum triple evened the score at 16-16. An Antto Nikkarinen triple left the hosts up 19-16 after 10 minutes. Billy Keys struck from downtown to boost Bisons’ edge to 8 early in the second quarter. Langford kept Panionios in the game and eventually tied the game at 30-30. McCollum free throws then gave the visitors a slim lead. Williamson and Keys, both from the line, left Bisons with a 37-34 advantage at the break. Koivisto starred in a 9-2 start to the second half that allowed Bisons to take a 10-point lead. The Panionios guards kept the visitors in the picture, but counterparts Koivisto and Nikkarinen connected from deep to make it 62-53. Matti Nuutinen nailed a three for a 67-58 lead through three quarters. Kryitsis continued the Panionios fight and a Duvnjak triple closed the margin to 70-69 with less than five minutes remaining. A Duvnjak three tied it at 72-72, however Robinson and Williamson put Bisons back in charge. Panionios fought back and went ahead 76-77 on a Landon Milbourne layup. A Duvnjak triple seemed to have won the game for Panionios, 77-80, with 6 seconds left. To keep Bisons from a game-tying three, Panionios fouled Williamson. He made the first, intentionally missed the second and Robinson was able to put it in and force overtime at 80-80. Williamson and Robinson took charge in the extra session as Bisons went up 87-82. Duvnjak carried Panionios right back. Robinson scored twice more before assisting Williamson inside to make it 93-87 with less than a minute to go. McCollum free throws were not enough and a Koivisto steal in the closing seconds sealed a Bisons win.
