Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul booked its first victory of the Torneig de Básquet Júnior “Ciutat de L’Hospitalet” on Saturday by rolling past host team CB L’Hospitalet 97-58 in Group A. Ayberk Olmaz’s 18 points and 11 rebounds paced six players in double figures for Fenerbahce, who used a 28-2 fourth quarter to improve to 1-2 in the group. Utku Saraloglu had 15 points, Batuhan Gungor 12, Omer Yurtseven 11 and Egehan Arna 10 while Berk Ugurlu collected 10 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals in the win. L’Hospitalet dropped its third straight game despite 11 points from Roger Renau while Unai Garcia and Marc Ruf both had 9 points and 6 rebounds. L’Hospitalet led 6-4 and the game was knotted six times when the score was 12-12. Fenerbahce opened the first lead of more than two points at 12-16. It was even again at 16-16 and Fenerbahce was leading 18-19 after one quarter. Roger Nieto and Renau knocked down three-balls and Renau added another basket in a 14-4 start to the second quarter as L’Hospitalet opened a 32-23 advantage. Fenerbahce bounced right back with a 2-11 run to even the game at 34-34. And the Turkish team was up 37-39 at intermission. Fenerbahce came out of the locker room with a 0-12 surge for a 37-51 lead and the advantage grew to 16 points 39-55 midway through the third quarter. L’Hospitalet trimmed the margin to nine points at 50-59 but the cushion was 56-69 after 30 minutes. Fenerbahce steamrolled L’Hospitalet in the fourth quarter, starting it with a 0-15 run before Garcia scored the hosts’ only basket to make it 58-84. Fenerbahce finished with the last 13 points.
