FC Barcelona Regal defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv on Saturday by 64-75 at the Nike International Junior Tournament in L'Hospitalet and therefore advanced to the Sunday semifinals as Group A champ with a 3-0 record. Maccabi is out of the race for the title and it ends third with a 1-2. The winners were led by Marc Garcia and his 21 points, Milovan Draskovic added a huge double-double with 19 points and 18 boards while Stefan Peno posted 11 for Barca. For Maccabi, Idan Zalmanson led the way with 21 points and Ido Halifa and Gal Gelinski posted 11 apiece.

Maccabi started the game dominating and even managed to build a 10-point lead 5 minutes into the game, 16-6. However, a late 0-4 run by Barca allowed it to stay in the game after 10 minutes, 23-15. A 0-10 run early in the second quarter by Barcelona capped by Milovan Draskovic's free throws made it 26-25 and despite a pull by Maccabi to make it 32-25, the quarter ended with another Barca 3-19 burst that turned things around at the break, 35-44. The third quarter was much closer as it finished with a 16-16 partial score that didn't change things. In the final period, Maccabi tried to stay alive but Barcelona managedthe lead and in the final minutes, free throws kept a safe marging for the Catalans who won the group and advanced to semis.
