Jackson stars in debut to carry Cedevita over MZT

Cedevita Zagreb outgunned MZT Skopje Aerodrom 85-89 on Wednesday at Jane Sandanski in Round 3 of the 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season. Cedevita improved in the standings to 1-2, while MZT was handed its second straight loss and fell to 0-2. Pierre Jackson starred with 29 points and 7 assists for the winners. He made 12 of 14 free throws to reach that scoring total. Filip Kruslin followed with 14 points on 4-of-6 three-point shooting. Marko Arapovic added 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Daniel Clark paced MZT with 23 points and 8 rebounds, Xavier Thames scored 18, Josh Scott posted 15 points and 9 rebounds and Jure Lalic chipped in 10 points.

The teams went back and forth until forging a 26-26 tie through the first 10 minutes. The hosts’ defense shined to create a 46-40 halftime advantage. After the break, MZT remained ahead, but Cedevita closed the gap to 67-62 by the end of the third quarter. Cedevita came back to score 27 in the final stanza to claim the victory.

“We played well for most of the game, but the inexperience of my players was the key in our defeat. Once again, almost identical to the first game in Panevezys, the game was decided by one ball at the end. I'm satisfied with the performance of my players, but they couldn't overcome our small rotation because we had three injured key players (Drenovac, Kloof and Simonovski). Cedevita had more offensive rebounds.”
