Zalgiris finished the group stage of the Ciutat de L'Hospitalet Tournament with a perfect record after downing Cedevita 81-67 on Wednesday. Zalgirs had already wrapped up first place in the group earlier in the day and was set to face Real Madrid in Thursday's semifinals. However Valdas Karinauskas did not make light of his team’s final Group B opponent, hitting for 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the way to the win. Lukas Lekavicius added 13 points and Justas Tamulis scored 10 for the winners. Martin Junakovic paced Cedevita with 14 points and 4 assists, Antun Hrkac netted 13 and Dorijan Jelenek 10. Junakovic opened the scoring for Cedevita from downtown, but Zalgiris soon took control with a Karinauskas triple as the lead stretched to 11-5. Karinauskas stayed hot with 9 first-quarter points as Zalgiris built a 21-15 lead through 10 minutes. Tamulis scored and assisted as Zalgiris scored the first three baskets of the second quarter. The lead reached 14 before Junakovic heated up. When Hrkac added a three to cut the gap to 36-30. Hrkac and Junakovic both connected from downtown again and Luka Saric scored inside to bring Cedevita within 42-38 at halftime. Saric cut the gap to 2 at the start of the second half, but after Zvonimir Cutuk made it 46-44, Zalgiris responded with a 13-3 burst that Karinauskas capped with a pair of baskets and Zalgiris climbed to a 63-49 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Jelenek’s basket at the start of the quarter was not a sign of good things to come for Cedevita as Tamulis hit a three and dished to Timotis Kuckailis as the lead hit 18 and Zalgiris coasted to victory.
