Strasbourg edges Radnicki for maiden Eurocup victory

Strasbourg clinched its first victory in the Last 32 by holding off Radnicki Kragujevac 80-76 at home in Group N. Louis Campbell poured in 19 points for Strasbourg, while Ricardo Greer collected 11 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists in pushing the team’s record to 1-2. Axel Toupane and Bootsy Thorton both scored 12 points and Romain Duport added 10 in the win. Kragujevac dropped to 0-3 despite Stefan Bircevic scoring 21 points. Nikola Kalinic added 14 points, Marko Marinovic had 12 and Dusan Mladan chipped in 11.

Radnicki pulled ahead early but Strasbourg took the lead 12-7 and the gap was 17-11. Marinovic made two free throws to even the game 17-17 after one quarter. Marinovic drained a three at the start of the second to complete a 0-9 run. The lead changed hands three times until Mladan and Bircevic nailed long balls to open a 27-33 cushion. Greer scored five straight points before Bircevic knocked down another triple for a 32-36 margin at the break. Campbell started second half with a three-pointer and a three-point play and the Strasbourg advantage was 43-40 until Radnicki pulled back ahead 43-45. Strasbourg responded with an 11-0 run to open a 54-45 lead only to see Bircevic, Sava Lasic and Mladan combined for four three-pointers in a 2-14 spurt for a 56-59 lead. Thorton’s long ball had the contest even at 59-59 after 30 minutes. Thorton opened the fourth quarter with a trey as well but Radnicki scored the next eight points to make it 62-67. The hosts evened the game right back up at 67-67. It was still tied at 76-76 when Greer hit a layup with 33 seconds left. After Stefan Jovic missed a three-pointer with 14 seconds left, Campbell converted two free throws with 11 seconds to play to decide the game.
