It was another tough night for Cibona. In their current situation, without Gordan Giricek in the team, at least for another month, every victory is crucial. Finally, as the fourth quarter was approaching, Cibona found the way. Three points by Josip Sesar and four by Arthur Lee, together with four turnovers by the St. Petersburg players, put Cibona ahead by seven points, (68-61) for the first time in the match. Dzevad Alihodzic hit a two-pointer, and one free throw (68-64), but then came two fatal mistakes for St. Petersburg, Derrick Hamilton missed an easy lay-up and Keith Jennings slipped and could not control the ball, cutting the possibility of getting closer on the scoreboard. St. Petersburg played a great first quarter, scoring 28 points, with a 12 of 15 in two-point shooting, but they were helped by the seemingly non-existent Cibona defense. From then on, the game was much tougher. Only 42 points, connecting 13 of 35 two-point shots, missing 13 straight three-pointers, after Marijan Stazic had scored the first two attempts. But it was never going to be enough, even though they held a six points advantage in the half-time. Cibona fought its way all through the game, and even got 5 points ahead on the scoreboard in the third quarter, advantage that lost in a few plays.
