Estudiantes, without any action in the first game of the Spanish championship last Saturday, lost its first official game of the season against Peristeri in the Euroleaguetake off after the opening game between Real Madrid and Olympiakos on Monday. Rico Hill and Nenad Markovic played for the very first time with their new squad. Hill started the game with the starting line-up, but Markovic got in when the Greek were leading the scoreboard by ten points two minutes before the horn in the first period (8-18). Peristeri made the long distance shooting the better way to take the lead despite the apparition of Markovic. The three points baskets scored by Byron Dinkins and Alphonso Ford -5/6- broke the local team and opened the way to the Greek victory (18-33 m.14). Dinkins converted a new three-pointer before the halftime and gave Peristeri a twenty points difference (32-52) letting Argiris Pedoulakis squad face the next period plenty of confidence, but the Greek had to fight until the end. Estudiantes narrowed the gap in a courageous reaction. Nevertheless, 35 points by Ford frustrated the hopes of the Spaniards in the last moments.
