DKV Joventut got off a perfect start in ULEB Cup downing Alba Berlin 79-67 on Tuesday night at home in Group A. Jan Jagla from downtown extended the cushion to 21-7 then Julius Jenkins and Goran Nikolic tried to keep Alba alive to finsih the first quarter on 24-12. The game changed with Alba Berlin showing their pride and coming back closer on 26-21 with Brown from beyond the arc. Barton pushed the Germans harder, but the momentum was on their side and Alba fueled again by Brown finished the first half behind by just three points on 39-36. Pau Ribas gave again a slim 45-39 margin to Badalona, but step-by step Alba was back on 53-53. Barton and Mallet scored late in the third quarter to give Joventut a 58-55 advantage after thirty minutes. Head Coaches

GARCIA RENESES, AITO
DKV Joventut Badalona
"We played again with one forward, Barton, as Rudy and Laviña were injured and if to that we add the personal fouls, we are in trouble to keep up with the rhythm of the game. Alba played with their external players and made it hard on us. I liked the way Pere Tomas brought in fresh air to the game, like Popovic who did a great job inside the paint. To start with a win is great since anything can happen in this competition. In the Spanish League we know all teams but in the ULEB Cup there are a lot of teams and sometimes it is hard to know them all. Alba plays a different style based on the efficiency of Bobby Brown and Julius Jenkins."
PAVICEVIC, LUKA
Alba Berlin
"I want to congratulate DKV Joventut and their coach Aito because they were better in the decisive moments. We were not costant when we could solvesome situationsand we lacked concentration and decision. In the balanced moments, when the game wasopen, we didn't know how to play DKV as an equal and that is something you pay for against a team like Joventut."

Players

TOMAS, PERE
DKV Joventut Badalona
"First of all I have to say I am happy that the team could win a game that had become difficult on us. I played at ease and I hope I did what my coach wanted from me. In the first half it looked like it would be easy but as the game went by, Alba got into the game up to tying the game. Then, when we had to face the difficulties, we did it to solve things in the last quarter."
FEMERLING, PATRICK
Alba Berlin
"It was a game marked by the absences on both teams. We lost our options at the beginning of the last period, as Joventut hadmore decision and solved tha game in which we had our options to win. Mallet and Barton hurt us with their triples."
