Cimberio Varese held off late charge from Paris Levallois, prevailing 77-71 to earn its first victory in Group C on Wednesday. The hosts never trailed and led by as many as 25 points midway through the third quarter, but the visiting side orchestrated a rally that saw them cut the deficit 73-71, but Cimberio held on in the final 30 seconds. Keydren Clark led the hosts in victory with 21 points, Aubrey Coleman and Ebi Ere had 13 apiece, while Frank Hassell had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Aloysius Anagonye collected 15 points plus 8 rebounds for the visitors, while Giovan Oniangue had 13 points plus 8 rebounds. Nicolas Lang netted 12 points, and Daniel Ewing finished with 10 points plus 8 assists for 0-2 Paris.
Ere hit a triple and a layup, before Clark's three-pointer helped make it 10-2 to start the game. The visitors responded, and Jawad Williams made a triple for 14-9, but Coleman scored 8 points and Clark hit two more triples, extending the margin to 12 points. Anagonye and Oniangue scored from downtown at the end of the first quarter to keep Paris Levallois in range, but Ere nailed one triple and Erik Rush hit two more for Cimberio at the start of the second, making it 32-17. The visitors used a 2-8 run to halve the deficit, but hosts ended the quarter with another run, as triples from Andrea De Nicolao and Ere lifted them to 48-30 halftime lead. The margin reached 64-39 midway through the third quarter, after baskets from Clark, Hassell and Coleman. However, with the game seemingly out of reach, Paris Levallois rallied. Lang started it with a triple, added another jumper, before baskets from Oniangue and Andrew Albicy cut it to 69-54 after three quarters. With 5 minutes left, the hosts still held 71-58, but Lang and Ewing hit shots, while Oniangue scored twice inside as the visitors cut it to 73-71. However, Clark closed out the game from the foul line.
