Union Olimpija Ljubljana secured third place at the Torneig de Básquet Júnior “Ciutat de L’Hospitalet” with a 54-40 victory over reigning NIJT champion Fiatc Joventut Badalona. Tilen Krodin was Olimpija’s top scorer with 15 points while Vasilije Vucetic had 10 points. Marc Bauza paced Joventut with 10 points. Sergi Costa gave Joventut its first lead 3-2 but Vucetic scored six points as Olimpija built a 3-11 lead. Badalona cut it to 7-11 before Kodrin tallied eight points in Ljubljana’s 0-10 surge for a 7-21 margin after one quarter. After Oscar Amo opened the second quarter for Joventut, Olimpija increased the lead to 9-25. Albert Real trimmed the gap to 15-25 only to see Jules Akodo and Kodrin nail long balls to push the cushion to 17-31. At the break, Ljubljana was leading 19-31. Olimpija increased the lead to 16 points early in the third quarter before Joventut trimmed it back to 10 points 25-35. Ljubljana was the stronger team with Ziga Jurcek knocking down a trey late in the third as the Slovenian side was leading 33-47 after 30 minutes. Joventut could not really cut into the Olimpija advantage in the fourth quarter, getting it no closer than 13 points in the last 10 minutes.
