KIROLBET Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz got back to its winning ways and registered its first home win of the season by topping visiting Darussafaka Tekfen Istanbul 82-56 on Thursday night. Baskonia used a strong finish to the second and a good opening of the third quarter to run away to a big win, all while snapping its three-game losing streak. Baskonia improved to 2-3, while Darussafaka registered its third consecutive defeat and dropped to 1-4 in the standings. Tornike Shengelia paced the winners with 13 points and 6 rebounds. It was 16-16 on the scoreboard after 10 minutes, and Darussafaka used a three-pointer each from each Jon Diebler and Demir to go in front 18-22. Baskonia used two 8-0 runs fueled by Shengelia and opened a 58-36 lead midway through the third quarter. Diebler hit a triple for Darussafaka to stop the bleeding, but Baskonia did not slow down. The hosts used an Ilimane Diop alley-oop dunk to make it 64-41 at the end of the third quarter and the margin grew to 73-46 in the fourth as the hosts cruised to a big win.
