INSEP Paris bounced back from its first loss at the ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT in Kaunas to claim third place in the tournament by beating Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul 65-57. INSEP, which lost to Zalgiris Kaunas in the Group A decider on Day 2, was paced by 19 points from Bathiste Tchouaff, who nailed five three-pointers and also had nine rebounds and four steals. Stephane Gombauld added 13 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and Jonathan Jeanne chipped in 10 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, three steals and four blocks. Fenerbahce, which lost to VEF Riga in the Group B decider, got 26 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks from Omer Yurtseven while Egehan Arna collected 10 points and seven assists in the loss.

Tchouaffe opened the game with a three-pointer while Yurtseven scored the next six points of the game for a 3-6 Fenerbahce lead. The Turkish team went ice cold and Tchouaffe nailed another triple and Jeanne converted a three-point play in a 13-0 run to open a 16-6 lead. Yurtseven stopped the 4:25 minute scoreless stretch and Ercan Bayrak got the lead down to 18-12. Gombauld added his third basket of the quarter for a 20-12 lead after 10 minutes. Arna had the margin down to 20-14 with the first score of the second quarter. But Olivier Cortale knocked down a three-pointer to start a 12-2 INSEP run which also included yet another three-ball from Tchouaffe and four points from Jeanne for a 32-16 cushion. A Jeanne three-point play extended the advantage to 35-18 and a Timothe Vergiat long-ball pushed the lead out to 18 points – 38-20. The margin was 39-22 at intermission.

Fenerbahce came out of the locker room strong as Arna and Yurtseven combined for 11 points in a 1-13 run to start the second half and bring the deficit to 40-35. Tchouaffe once again was on target from long range to stop the run and was followed by a three-ball from Gregory Bengaber and a Gombauld basket as INSEP pulled back out ahead 48-35. Fenerbahce scored the final five points of the quarter to trail 48-40 after 30 minutes. The Turkish side continued its run to start the fourth as Yurtseven scored four points and Bayrak came up with a steal and dunk to pull within 48-46. Tchouaffe once again came to the rescue, scoring INSEP’s first points of the fourth quarter at the 6:21 minute mark with another three-pointer. And Gombauld scored back to back baskets to push the cushion out to 57-48 with just more than two minutes to play. Two Efe Kayalar scores and an Arna layup got Fenerbahce to within 60-55 with 42 seconds left. But Bengaber made one free throw and then scored another basket after Dogancan Celik missed his attempt to make it 63-55.
