PAOK Thessaloníki grabbed sole possession of third place in Group D with a 71-78 road win over EiffelTowers in Den Bosch, Netherlands, on Tuesday night. Drago Pasalic scored 18 to lead PAOK, which improved to 2-2. EiffelTowers dropped its third straight since upsetting Real Madrid on opening night. The Dutch champs fell to 1-3, but are still tied for fourth place in the group with Madrid and Dexia Mons. PAOK took a big lead in the first quarter but EiffelTowers came right back and held a 38-33 lead at halftime. PAOK used a 7-0 spurt spanning the end of the third period and the start of the fourth to take control for good. Lazaros Agadakos added 14, Blagota Sekulic 12 and Ioannis Kalampokis 10 for PAOK. Leon Rodgers scored a game-high 23 and Travis Young had 15 for EiffelTowers.

Pasalic was hot from the very start, scoring 7 in the opening minutes as PAOK built a 6-11 advantage. Rodgers kept EiffelTowers in the picture, but Sekulic and Vlado Scepanovic shot PAOK forward to a 10-point lead. Johannes Akerboom and James Nelson allowed EiffelTowers to close the gap to 16-22 after 10 minutes. A Rodgers's triple and another Akerboom layup got EiffelTowers within 21-22 and after a Dimitrios Charitopoulos basket, Rodgers tied the score at 24-24. The hosts took the lead as the teams traded baskets, with back-to-back triples by Sam Jones and Young wrapping up the first half with EiffelTowers leading 38-33.

Pasalic scored the first 5 points of the second half to tie the score and then Kalampokis returned the lead to PAOK from the line. Jones carried EiffelTowers through the period, while Kalampokis and Agadakos did the same for PAOK, until a Jason Parker triple gave PAOK a 55-58 lead at the end of the third quarter. Parker added a basket and Nikos Kouvelas gave the visitors a 7-point lead early in the fourth quarter and soon Agadakos increased the cushion to 57-68. Young nailed a pair of threes to get EiffelTowers within 5, when Kalampokis and Parker came through to keep the hosts at bay as the final minutes ticked away.

WIEL, RANDY
EiffelTowers
"Nothing went wrong, both of the teams could win. At the end of the game we missed important shots. They made the plays when it mattered, and we didn’t. I have to put them in a position to win, and then their ability takes over."
PILAFIDIS, KONSTANTINOS
PAOK
"Den Bosch is a strange team, the players can run very well and shoot very well and PAOK had to stop them on the fastbreak. We had to close the game in the paint and that worked very well. If EiffelTowers can play the whole game as good as they did sometimes then they are a very strong team."
