The game was intense from the very beginning with three lead changes and one tie as Mamadou Diop put back two offensive rebounds in building a 10-6 lead for Estudiantes. The game was tight for most of the second quarter with Pablo Suarez and Tamayo both scoring five points for Estudiantes while Javier Soler picked up five points at the other end before Miguel Moreta and Castillo hit from long range for a 24-27 lead. Jose Ibanez’s three-pointer had the host side up 27-34 at the break. Ibanez started the second half with a three-pointer and Garcia added a three-ball and a three-point play in pushing the lead out to 28-45. Morgan Stilma’s basket had Unicaja up 31-47 but Jose Fernandez and Suarez both knocked down three-pointers in a 13-0 run over 6 minutes to cut the margin down to 44-47. A Soler three-point play just before the end of the quarter ended the drought and the host side was leading 44-50. The intensity increased in the fourth quarter with just five points total in the first five minutes and Unicaja leading 48-51. Stilma made it 48-53 but Tamayo took over for Estudiantes with a game-tying three and another basket to make it 56-53. But Rosa stepped up with a three-pointer with 44 seconds left in regulation to even the game 56-56. In the first overtime game of the tournament, Rosa put back an offensive rebound off a missed free throw and converted the and-one and added two free throws for a 56-62 lead. Estudiantes did not get closer than 3 points the rest of the way.
