Climamio Bologna had to battle all 40 minutes for its first Group A road win of the season, edging Strasbourg 75-78 on Wednesday. Climamio improved to 3-2 after rallying in the final 3 minutes to win. Meanwhile, Strasbourg dropped to 1-4 with its third loss by 3 points or less. Marco Belinelli led the winners with 23 points on 4 of 8 three-point shooting while Kiwane Garris added 14 with the same accuracy on triples for Climamio, who didn't have Sani Becirovic due to a last-minute injury. Alvin Young had 20 points for Strasbourg. Ricardo Greer had an all-around game with 13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals, while Ondrej Starosta added 12 points for the hosts. Strasbourg led most of the way, with Ricardo Greer helping the hosts hold a 69-64 advantage with 3 minutes remaining. Climamio used a 3-10 run to regain the lead, but a three-point play by Young gave Strasbourg its last lead at 75-74. Then, however, Travis Watson made free throws and Belinelli dunked to seal the win in the final 20 seconds.

Young followed a free throw with a driving layup to get Strasbourg going early, but Erazem Lorbek scored inside and Dalibor Bagaric added a wild three-point play to give Climamio a 3-5 lead. Strasbourg had troubles to find easy options in offense, until Young stepped up with a fastbreak layup, but Bagaric erased that a turnaround jumper for a 7-9 Climamio advantage. Strasbourg tightened its defense, while Young nailed a big three and Ricardo Greer added free throws in a 6-0 run that sent the hosts in front, 13-9. Climamio's Watson scored inside and Ress added a fastbreak dunk to tie. The visitors switched to zone defense, but Ondrej Starosta scored in the paint, igniting a 6-0 run for Strasbourg that John McCord capped with a six-meter jumper for a 19-13 margin. Nate Green had 4 quick points for Climamio, however, to fix the score at 19-17 after 10 minutes.

Green tied the game with a driving layup to start the second quarter for Climamio, but after that the visitors struggled offensively. Ricardo Greer stepped up with a second-chance basket for a 22-19 Strasbourg edge. Belinelli nailed a triple, but Aymeric Jeanneau answered with a long jumper. Garris came off the bench and immediately fired in a three-pointer to give Climamio a 24-25 lead midway through this period. Jeff Greer broke the guests' zone defense with a pull-up jumper but Belinelli matched it with a reverse layup. When Crawford Palmer scored and Starosta added free throws, Strasbourg had a 30-27 Strasbourg, but Belinelli erased it with another triple and put Climamio back in front with a fallaway jumper. Young, with 5 quick points, and Belinelli, adding a fastbreak dunk, continued to duel until Stanley Jackson's buzzer-beating corner triple let Strasbourg lead 38-34 at halftime.

Stefano Mancinelli worked in the paint for a jump hook, but Young followed Jeanneau's triple with a driving layup to give Strasbourg its biggest lead that far, 43-36. Belinelli came to the rescue again for Climamio, with consecutive triples, but offensive rebounds and a slashing layup by Jeanneau steadied Strasbourg. Ricardo Greer copied him for a 49-42 lead after 25 minutes, then Jackson hit a reverse layup and Starosta a mid-range jumper to make it a nine-point game, 53-44. Climamio switched back to zone defense and got a jumper from Ress, but Starosta and Wesson shared 3 free throws for the hosts. Watson finally ignited a 0-9 run by Climamio in which Ress had 4 points and Garris capped with a triple to bring Climamio all the way back to within 56-55 after 30 minutes.

Wesson scored his first basket in the paint, but Garris immediately answered from downtown to tie the game at 58-58 in a low-scoring start of the fourth quarter. Palmer buried a five-meter jumper, but Garris fired in another corner three to give Climamio a 60-61 lead. Ricardo Greer returned the favour with a three in the other end and Wesson made free throws to give Strasbourg a 65-61 edge with 5 minutes to go. Rodolfo Rombaldoni woke Climamio up with a triple, but Ricardo Greer followed Jeanneau's running layup with a fast break dunk to force the guests' timeout at 69-64. Rombaldoni kept Climamio close with a fadeaway jumper, while Belinelli and Green combined for 4 free throws to give Climamio a 70-71 lead with 2 minutes remaining. Wesson scored free throws, Belinelli made 1 of 2 for Climamio while Green made a two-handed dunk off a steal for a 72-74 Climamio edge. Young took over with an off-balanced jumper and an additional free throw, while Watson made free throws for a 75-76 Climamo edge with 20 seconds to go. Young missed a crucial shot while Belinelli sealed the win with a two-handed dunk.

Head Coaches

GIRARD, ERIC
Strasbourg
"Once again, in the fifth Euroleague match we have just played, I have absolutely nothing to hold against my team. They applied themselves with a great deal of determination against another big team in Europe and proved for the fifth time that Strasbourg definitely deserves its place in the Euroleague. The only thing missing is perhaps respect for certain actions when the team was too severely penalised, in my view, and both teams did not receive the same treatment, but that happens in sport. Once again I am proud to be at the head of this team and proud of what Strasbourg has achieved in this match against Climamio. I sincerely believe however that we deserved to win."
REPESA, JASMIN
Climamio Bologna
"It was, as we expected, a tough game as they are a very good team, especially at home. In the last minute we managed to change the game but it is certainly not easy for any team to come and win here. I think in the end it was our 10 years' experience of Euroleague which helped us to win as Strasbourg is playing for the first time in this competition and it isn't the first time they have lost a match right at the end. It is first of all experience in this type of competition which is important."

Players

GREER, RICARDO
Strasbourg
"It was a tough game for all of us all the way. They made some fast shots at the end. Hopefully next time we could play a little better but we tried our hardest. It should have been our second win in the Euroleague and it slipped away once again. I tip my hat off to the winning team as it was a greatly fought game. The good part is at least we'll get to see them again in Italy!"
STAROSTA, ONDREJ
Strasbourg
"I think everyone played an excellent game and things weren't decided until right at the end. We have a little less respect from the refs and we also have a less experience in this competition and that counted against us. Everybody did a great job especially in defense. I think we deserved a victory but unfortunately for us it was finally the more experinced team that won."
YOUNG, ALVIN
Strasbourg
"It was tough and they were a good team. I thought we played well, got a lot of rebounds and the game could have gone either way. I'm just happy we played well. We have just got to keep the same type of intensity in french League games and if we can manage that we will be doing ok as a team."
GREEN, NATHAN
Climamio Bologna
"We definitely needed a win like this. A very good team and a very tough place to play. We have been preparing ourselves for this stretch of five games and, so far so good. We have just got to continue as we have a lot of new guys to the Euroleague and we are just trying to put our trust in each another as a team and do the best we can to win games."
