Crvena Zvezda essentially secured a spot in the semifinals with a 110-51 demolishing of Union Olimpija Ljubljana. Zvezda improved to 2-0 and can clinch first place in the group with a win over Mega Vizura in Saturday’s early game. After an 11-0 run to start the second quarter put Zvezda up 32-15, Olimpija never challenged again. Dusan Ristic paced seven Zvezda scorers in double figures with 15 points. Marko Tejic added 14 and Nikola Jankovic tallied 13 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Jusuf Nurkic and Vasilija Vucetic scored 11 each for Olimpija in defeat. The loss dropped Olimpija to 0-2 in Group A.

The game was close in the early going with Olimpija riding Nurkic to take the lead on three occasions on the first quarter, the last one at 8-10 on a Erjon Kastrati layup at the midway point in the period. Ristic connected on a three-point play to give him 9 early points and Zvezda an 11-10 lead. Luka Kokol tied the game once more for Olimpija with a triple, but Tejic answered from downtown and Zvezda finished the quarter with a 21-15 edge. Petar Aranitovic scored 6 straight points as part of an 11-0 run to start the second quarter as Zvezda pulled away. Tejic’s second three made it a 20-point game at 37-17 and by halftime the margin had swelled to 53-24. Any hopes of an Olimpija comeback were put to rest as Zvezda scored the first 8 points of the second half and cruised to an easy win.
