Partizan of Belgrade got a deserved 80-85 win on the road at Tau Cerámica in Vitoria on Wednesday night against a Tau team that never found the way of controlling the game. The Yugoslav players, a mixture of youth and playing joy were capable of controlling the game since the very first minute and having the current subchampion of the competition against the wall, to the point of getting the victory easily. Partizan thus raised its record to 3-1 to join Ural Great and AEK Athens in first place in Group D. Tau fell to 1-3 with two of those losses coming in overtime.

The Yugoslav coach of Tau, Dusko Ivanovic, had warned everybody of Partizan's potential. His worst nightmares started to come true since the first quarter, when Partizan showed its intentions with a 10-21 lead after 8 minutes. From then on, they played with the scoreboard on their side against a Tau that played too quickly and made mistakes. Partizan started to close itself in defense and tie the Spaniards up in the paint.

It was in the third quarter, when Tau managed to score an 8-0 run which made it game in the last quarter (60-63). Nevertheless, Partizan started minute 31 in the same way as most that came before, getting key baskets that put the home team on its heels. Continuous mistakes from downtown made Vitoria's comeback absolutely impossible.
