Brian Asbury - Cajasol Seville (photo baloncestosevilla.com)Cajasol Sevilla improved to 2-2 in Group H by edging Orleans Loiret Basket 84-78 at home on Tuesday. Cajasol can qualify to the Last 16 next week if Crvena Zvezda Diva Belgrade beats Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari tomorrow. If so, Cajasol will advance to the Last 16 with a win against Sassari. Brian Asbury paced the winners with 27 points on 10-of-13 two-point shots. Joan Sastre and Luka Bogdanovic each added 11 while Roberto Dozier had 10 for Cajasol. Caleb Green led Orleans with 21 points. Jahmar Young added 18, Brian Greene had 12 while Mael Lebrun and Fernando Raposo each got 10 for the guests. Cajasol opened the game with a 7-0 run and back-to-back triples by Sastre helped the hosts to keep a 21-16 edge after 10 minutes. Young had 10 points in a 0-12 run which allowed Orleans to get a 33-35 lead at halftime. Dozier and Asbury stepped up after the break to make Cajasol regain the lead, 59-55, after 30 minutes. Young managed to make it a one-point game, 76-75, with over a minute left but Tomas Satoransky and Asbury stepped up in crunch time to seal the outcome down the stretch.

Dozier got Cajasol going with a jumper, igniting a 7-0 opening run that Milenko Tepic capped with a three-pointer. Lebrun tried to change things with a bomb from downtown and Raposo split free throws but Asbury and Ondrej Balvin boosted the hosts' lead to 11-4. Chris Hill joined the three-point shootout and a jumper by Green brought Orleans with 11-9. Dozier scored down low and Asbury matched Lebrun's slam with a driving layup. Green dunked it and Young hit a triple but Sastre struck twice from beyond the arc for a 21-16 score. Free throws by Green and a buzzer-beating basket by Guillermo Corrales fixed the score at 21-16 after 10 minutes. Green scored again early in the second quarter, as Cajasol struggled to score for more than 2 minutes until Bogdanovic shined with a fast break layup. Sastre took over with his third three-pointer but Raposo kept Orleans within 28-23. Bogdanovic scored down low to force the guests to call timeout at 30-23. Orleans found a go-to guy in Young, who followed consecutive jumpers with back-to-back triples to singlehandedly give the guests their first lead, 30-33. Marc-Antoine Pellin capped a 0-12 Orleans run with a fast break layup, as Tepic and Asbury brought Cajasol within 33-35.

Green hit free throws on Dozier's fourth foul immediately after the break. Tepic nailed a mid-range jumper and beat the buzzer with a rainbow triple to put Cajasol back ahead, 38-37. Raposo made free throws but Dozier erased those with a six-meter jumper and Asbury soon gave the hosts a 42-39 edge. Green sank a running shot and bettered Asbury's jumper with a three-pointer that tied it at 44-44. Satoransky shined with a put-back layup but Lebrun answered from downtown for a 46-47 Orleans edge. Dozier hit foul shots, igniting a 7-0 run in which Asbury had 3 points. Lebron buried a jumper and even when Bogdanovic and Satoransky scored again, three-pointers by Green and Greene kept Orleans within 59-55 after 30 minutes. Juanjo Triguero scored in the paint early in the fourth quarter and a three-pointer by Bogdanovic boosted the hosts' lead to 64-55 with over 7 minutes to go. Greene answered from downtown and free throws by Hill gave Orleans some hope, 64-60. Raposo capped a 0-7 Orleans run with a tip-in, as Asbury stepped up with free throws. Raposo scored but back-to-back jumpers Asbury gave Cajasol some fresh air, 72-64, with 3 minutes to go. Greene nailed consecutive three-pointers but Dozier and Asbury answered for a 76-70 Cajasol edge in the next-to-last minute. Young followed free throws with a three-pointer for a 76-75 score but a put-back basket by Satoransky and a driving basket by Asbury sealed the outcome, 80-75, with 41.4 seconds left. Orleans kept trying but all Cajasol fans were celebrating a pivotal win.

Head Coaches

GARCIA RENESES, AITO
Cajasol Seville
"We didn't play well in the first half, especially on offense, with no ball circulation. We improved in the second half but I have to say that we were limited because of our foul troubles. We haven't been focused on working with intensity but then when it was tougher, in the second half, we were focused and working well. Orleans played a good game. Some of their players were making 20% of their three-point shots but they had a 64% from that range tonight, which is impressing and difficult to stop."
HERVE, PHILIPPE
Orleans Loiret Basket
"We were here without Bambale Osabu and had low percentages in the paint. We had to look for alternatives and had the luck to make a lot of outside shots, with good percentaes. We returned to the game in the second quarter and had options but Cajasol scored fluently in the third quarter. We reached the final minute with options to win the game. This loss leaves us with little chances to qualify. We have to win both games and expect Cajasol to lose twice. It is difficult but we must keep fighting."

Players

HOLLAND, JOHN
Cajasol Seville
"It was a good game and a great win. We needed it to keep our chances to advance and now we are in a good position to do that. We all really needed this, it is good for the team not only in the Eurocup, but also in the Spanish League. We showed our character in the second half. We fought back, rallied and ended up winning the game. It would be very good for us to make it to the Last 16. The competition level is high and it would be good for the team."
GREEN, CALEB
Orleans Loiret Basket
"We made a lot of mistakes and Cajasol played really well tonight. We have to bounce back from this and make less mistakes if we want to keep our qualifying options alive - even when we are aware we have little chances to go through after this loss."
