Lamont Hamilton scored 12 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter, including a game-winning layup-plus foul with 6 seconds remaining, to give Bilbao Basket come-from-behind 66-68 win over KK Buducnost Voli Podgorica. With the win, Bilbao kept its perfect record intact and secured first place in Group B, while Buducnost dropped to a 3-2 record and now needs a win or a loss by less than 3 points in the final game at Lukoil Academic to progress into the Last 16. Nikos Zisis also scored 14 points, while Alex Mumbru had 12 points plus 8 rebounds for the winners. Cedomir Vitkovac led Buducnost with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Dusko Bunic scored 14, Nikola Ivanovic 11 and Strahinja Milosevic grabbed 13 rebounds along with his 5 points in defeat.
Vitkovac opened the scoring with a layup, and with baskets from Milosevic and Gerald Lee, Buducnost got an early 8-2 lead. Mumbru answered, stringing together 8 consecutive points, including two triples to tie it at 10-10, but Bunic scored inside on three trips down the floor to give the hosts a 6-point lead. Bilbao grabbed an 18-19 led after a three-pointer from Adrien Moerman and couple of shots from Milovan Rakovic, before a jumper and a triple from Zisis made it 23-24 after 10 minutes. Axel Hervelle and Rakovic extended the margin to 5 points. Buducnost did not score a field goal for almost seven minutes, but went 7 for 8 from the foul line during that span. Vitkovac ended the hosts’ drought from the field, but Zisis combined a triple and a fastbreak layup before Roger Grimau’s jump shot made it 28-37. Buducnost answered with an 11-2 run before halftime, though. Bunic and Nikola Ivanovic started it by scoring on back-to-back possessions, and Pavlin Ivanov made a layup-plus-foul to tie the game at 39-39. However, Mumbru and Zisis snapped the run and made sure Bilbao held a 39-43 lead at the half.
Hervelle hit a triple in the opening minute of the third quarter, but Aleksa Popovic scored 4 points and Demarquis Bost hit a three-pointer to give Buducnost a 48-46 lead. After almost four minutes in which neither team allowed a field goal, Raul Lopez hit a three, but Ivanovic hit a triple of his own and Bunic ended the third quarter with a layup for 57-52. In the fourth quarter, Hamilton got red-hot. He began the quarter with couple of jump shots, and after a layup from Vitkovac, Hamilton hit a triple to get Bilbao within 61-59. Hamilton then traded layups with Lee, before Zisis hit a jumper to tie the game at 64-64. In a dramatic ending, Bilbao held the hosts without a field goal for the final four minutes, but Milosevic made a pair of free throws to give Buducnost a 66-65 advantage with 13 seconds to go. That was plenty of time for Hamilton, though, as his layup-plus-foul put Bilbao back in front. The hosts had 6 seconds for their final possession, but Ivanovic missed a potential game-winning three-pointer.
