U18 Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade used a big fourth quarter run to race away from U18 ALBA Berlin 85-68 for its first victory in Group B of the 2016 EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Finals. Boris Simanic collected 25 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists while Aleksa Radnov scored 19 points for Zvezda, which improved to 1-1 in the group thanks to a 21-3 surge in the final frame. Aleksa Uskokovic picked up 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Matija Radovic added 11 points in the win. ALBA dropped to 0-2 in the group despite 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists from Ferdinand Zylka. Bennet Hundt had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Alexander Moeller added 10 points.

Radovic opened the game with a three-pointer before 2 baskets from Moeller gave ALBA its first lead at 3-4. A third Moeller basket made it 4-6. Zvezda reclaimed the lead at 9-8 on Stefan Dordevic’s free throw. ALBA went back ahead and Jonas Mattisseck’s triple put the host side up 9-13. Zvezda scored the next 4 points before Lucas Skibbe had ALBA ahead 13-15 after 10 minutes. Zykla extended the cushion to 13-17 to start the second quarter before Radanov nailed a three-ball and Radovic hit 2 free throws for a 20-19 lead. ALBA answered with the next 8 points - including 2 three-pointers from Zylka - for a 20-27 advantage. Zvezda trimmed the gap to 26-27 before a Mattisseck triple to make it 26-30. The lead switched hands with the final four scores of the first half, which ended with ALBA up 34-35.

Simanic’s basket to open the second half was followed by a triple from Hundt, who nailed 2 more long balls to help ALBA move ahead 42-46. The host side was still leading 47-48 when Zvezda went on a 10-0 run, including a Radovic three-pointer and Uskokovic three-point play for a 57-48 Zvezda lead, which was 57-50 after 30 minutes. Radanov opened the fourth quarter for a 59-50 lead but ALBA tried to get back into the game with a Zylka three-pointer and two dunks on the break to trim the deficit to 59-57. The home side was looking to knot the game but Hundt turned the ball over and Louis Olinde was called for an unsportsmanlike foul to stop the fast break. Radanov made 2 free throws and on the ensuing possession Simanic nailed a three-pointer and was fouled and completed the four-point play for a six-point possession. Zylka did respond with a three-pointer but Petar Rebic was fouled on a corner three-ball and converted the four-point play as well. And then Simanic knocked down another triple for a 72-60 lead and an ALBA time out. ALBA still could not score and Zvezda hit the next 8 points to complete a 21-3 run for an 80-60 lead with 2:32 left. ALBA did not get closer than 14 points the rest of the way.
