U18 Fenerbahce Istanbul picked up its first victory at the EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Kaunas as it knocked off U18 Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt 73-55. Ahmet Duran collected 20 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals as Fenerbahce improved to 1-1 in Group A. Baris Yeniay added 19 points and 8 rebounds for Fenerbahce, which next takes on U18 Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius in its final Group B game. Fraport dropped to 0-2 despite 9 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals and 3 blocks from Isaac Bonga. Fraport will face U18 CFBB Paris later Friday in its final Group B contest.

Fraport opened the game with the first 7 points, which Fenerbahce answered with the next 10 points in building a 10-7 lead on a Yeniay three-pointer. Another Yeniay basket had the lead at 14-9. Another 0-7 Fraport run made it 14-16 before the game was knotted at 16-16 after 10 minutes. Yeniay scored again to leave Fenerbahce ahead 22-19 before Oliver Babitsch helped put Fraport back in front 22-25. Three lead changes followed and Fenerbahce went into intermission on top 28-27. Yeniay continued his strong game with an inside basket and a three-pointer as Fenerbahce opened the second half with a 7-0 spurt for a 35-27 advantage. Niklas Pons got Fraport as close as 35-32 with a three-pointer at the halfway point mark of the third quarter. But Fenerbahce held the German club to just one three-pointer for the final 5 minutes of the third quarter and Yeniay picked up 7 points in a 13-3 run to make it 48-35 after 30 minutes. Duran took over the scoring responsibility early in the fourth quarter with a tip-dunk, three-pointer and three-point play in increasing the advantage to 60-39. The game was all but decided but Philipp Hadenfeldt scored 11 points in the fourth quarter in trying to bring Fraport back into the game.
