Samba Ndiaye - U18 Real Madrid - ANGT Final Four Madrid 2015 - JT14

Real Madrid had to come from behind late but remained undefeated in Group A of the ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT with a 65-58 victory over INSEP Paris. Madrid’s 16-year-old star Luka Doncic made two three-pointers in the final 1:52 minutes to ice the game and move the host team to 2-0 in the group. Doncic struggled from the field, making just 4-of-17 shots but he collected 11 points, seven rebounds and nine assists while Samba Ndiaye picked up 12 points and 17 rebounds. Santiago Yusta added 11 points and seven rebounds while Jonathan Barreiro chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds for the winners. INSEP dropped to 1-1 in the group despite 18 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and two blocks from Stephane Gombauld. Luc Loubaki added 13 points in the loss. Bathiste Tchouaffe opened the game with a three-pointer for INSEP before Real Madrid reeled off 12 straight points for a 12-3 lead. Gombauld finally snapped 4:48 minute scoreless drought. And the forward added two free throws and another basket to bring INSEP to within 16-11. Yusta’s three-ball had Madrid up 19-11 after 10 minutes. After the Madrid cushion grew to 25-12, Tchouaffe nailed a three-ball and Jonathan Jeanne hit a jumper to trim the gap to 28-20. But the Madrid advantage was 34-23 at intermission.

INSEP came out of the break strong with a Loubaki three-ball, a Gombauld put-back dunk and three Timothe Vergiat free throws to cut the deficit to 37-35. Ndiaye’s dunk off an offensive rebound snapped the INSEP 3-12 run and Ndiaye added two more baskets after offensive rebounds before Doncic drained a three-pointer for a 9-0 run in just 1:25 minutes for a 46-35 lead. The advantage was 51-43 after three quarters. Madrid struggled offensively in the fourth quarter, and INSEP took advantage of that, opening the period with a 3-10 surge to take the lead 54-55. Ndiaye came up with another big dunk to put Madrid back ahead. The game was even at 58-58 when Doncic hit a three-pointer from the right wing at the 1:52 minute mark. Yusta split two free throws with 1:14 left to make it a four-point game. Loubaki failed to convert on the break after a Doncic turnover and then Doncic came back at the other end to nail another three-pointer with 40 seconds left for a 65-58 lead - finishing off INSEP for good.
