Reigning champion Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade eased to its second victory in Group A of the ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT, doubling up against Spars Sarajevo with a 95-47 win. Four players scored in double figures for Crvena Zvezda, paced by Vojislav Stojanovic with 18 points, six rebounds, eight assists and six steals. Aleksandar Aranitovic collected 16 points while David Miladinovic had 14 points and Borisa Simanic scored 11 in the victory. Spars dropped to 1-1 despite Edin Atic scoring 17 points while Fahrudin Manjgafic had 11 points. Crvena Zvezda held Spars guard Amar Gegic scoreless with eight of the team’s 29 turnovers.

The game was even early on at 8-8 when Crvena Zvezda pulled away for the first time with a 7-0 spurt to lead 15-8. Stojanovic increased his total to nine points already with two free throws for a 19-10 advantage. Atin and Manjgafic both nailed three-pointers to get Spars to within 19-16. But Aranitovic’s three-point play made it 23-16 and the champs were up 23-18 after 10 minutes. Crvena Zvezda blew the game open at the second quarter with a 15-1 run to lead 38-19. Crvena Zvezda was leading 42-21 when Spars finally scored its first basket of the quarter. A Stojanovic three-ball pushed the cushion to 46-24 and the gap was 48-27 at intermission.

Atic opened the second half with a three-pointer but Crvena Zvezda continued to dominate play with a 9-1 spurt for a 63-33 lead. Manjgafic scored the next basket but Crvena Zvezda would have nothing of wasting a 30-point lead like it nearly did in the first game against Unicaja Malaga. The Serbian team closed the third quarter on a 10-2 run for a 73-37 lead. Whereas Crvena Zvezda watched Malaga eat away at its lead in the fourth quarter, the champs never let up as Spars did not get any closer than 37 points the rest of the way. The lead was as many as 48 points.
