Needham and Gerald Robinson each hit a three-pointer in an 0-8 run that caused Zvezda to call timeout at 14-18. Baron, Ognjen Dobric and Ragland struck from downtown as the hosts regained the lead, 27-25, but Remi Barri and Ouattara helped Monaco tie the game at 29-29 after 10 minutes. Michael Ojo took over early in the second quarter and a 6-0 run that Stratos Perperoglou capped with a layup gave Zvezda a 39-33 lead. Ouattara had 5 points in a 0-9 run, but Zirbes and Faye gave the hosts a 45-44 edge at halftime. Monaco improved its defense after the break, while Ouattara, Lacombe and an unstoppable Kikakovic fueled a 2-16 run that made it a double-digit difference, 49-60. Filip Covic and Needham traded triples and a jumper by Kikanovic prompted Zvezda to call timeout at 52-65. Lacombe kept pacing the guests and Needham sank another one from beyond the arc to make it a 20-point game. Dejan Davidovac and Borisa Simanic cut Zvezda's deficit to 62-76 after 30 minutes. Monaco used longer possessions to run the game clock down and free throws by Jarrod Jones sealed the outcome with time to spare.

Head Coaches

TOMIC, MILAN
Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade
"This is the second game in a row we allowed our opponent to score 90-plus points. Before that we were the best defense in the EuroCup. Too many turnovers. We didn't react in third quarter. Nothing much to say. We need to work, practice and find our game. Congratulations to Monaco."
FILIPOVSKI, SASO
AS Monaco
"All credit really goes to my guys. We are having a lot of injuries and are playing without a point guard (Lazeric Jones) and a combo, Gerald Robinson, who got injured today, so we were in a terrible situation, but really, I am very happy for the guys. They are playing super. Big credit to my guys."

Players

BARON, BILLY
Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade
"This was a hard defeat. The first quarter was crucial. We gave them confidence. We played without our aggressive play in defense. We need to find our focus and to work hard in the next few days."
KIKANOVIC, ELMEDIN
AS Monaco
"It was an unusual game for me since I landed at the airport. After eight years, I returned to Pionir and played, as it were, for the opposite team. Thanks to the fans for a nice welcome. We were well prepared and played well from the first to the last minute. We knew Zvezda's strengths and weaknesses. I want to wish Zvezda all the best in the rest of the competition."
NEEDHAM, DEREK
AS Monaco
"I think we kept our focus, didn't get out of ourselves and played smart basketball. We also had a couple of good steals. We knew we had to come in and play a tough team. It was important because we dropped one game against them, so we had to get a win."
