Shang Gao - JT Team China - Final Four Istanbul 2012A huge upset in the 10th Nike International Junior Tournament as Team China beat the champs KK Zagreb 75-70 in Group B on Friday afternoon at the Ibdi Ipekci arena in Istanbul, Turkey. China jumped to a 1-1 record after a great recovery from a big loss in Day 1. Zagreb fell to 1-1 as both teams still hold a chance to play for the gold medal. Shang Gao hit 35 points and Delong Han added 21 for the winners. Dario Saric had a big performance again with 25 point, 21 rebounds and 6 assists. The first minutes told a totally different story as Zagreb dominated the first quarter and already took a 13-26 lead inside the last minute. Saric pushed the gap to 18-35 before Team China started a big comeback and finished the half behind just by five points 32-37. Gao was on fire coming back from the break and shocked Zagreb by leading his team to a 59-47 lead with two minutes to play in the third quarter. Dominik Mavra tried to make things better, and with Saric cut the gap down to three inside the last two minutes yet China were mentally strong enough to hold on to the gap and register one of the biggest upsets in the history of the tournament.
