Joventut gets back to winning

U18 Joventut Badalona bounced back from an upset in Round 1 to race past U18 Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul 93-61 in Group B at the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Kaunas. Adria Domenech scored 21 points with 6 rebounds for Joventut, which was shocked on Day 1 by U18 Barking Abbey London. Yannick Kraag contributed 15 points, Miguel Allen put in 14 points and Kriss Helmanis picked up 12 points in the win, which moved the 2013 continental champion to 1-1 in the group. David Mutaf collected 12 points and 11 rebounds and Ege Ulker had 11 points but they were not enough as Fenerbahce fell to 0-2.

Fenerbahce scored the first seven points of the game only to see Joventut even the game 9-9. Zsombor Maronka and Domenech both drained three-pointers in a 14-3 surge for a 23-14 lead and the Spanish side was up 23-17 after 10 minutes. Joventut took over in the second quarter with Domenech scoring 16 points for a 51-23 advantage, and Fenerbahce was down 53-29 at the break. Helmanis stepped up in the third quarter with 10 points in a 14-4 run for a 67-35. Domenech added two more baskets and Joventut was ahead 78-42 after 30 minutes. Fenerbahce tried to make a dent in the Joventut lead with Mert Eksioglu and Sayhan Yetkin both scoring four points as the deficit was 84-53. Fenerbahce did not get closer the rest of the game.
