Bnei Hasharon finished its Eurocup season with a big win by edging Aris BSA 89-86 at home in Group D on Tuesday. Bnei improved to 2-4 and finished fourth in this group. Despite winning its three opening games, Aris was third in Group D with a 3-3 record - and therefore out of the competition - due to its tie-break disadvantage against Panellinios. Ricahrd Roby led the winners with 21 points. Meir Tapiro added 20, 8 rebounds and 8 assists, Shawn James posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds while Ousmane Cisse got 12 points for Bnei. Dimitris Tsaldaris led Aris with 29 points on 7-for-14 three-pointers. Keydren Clark added 14, Spencer Nelson had 11 while Blagota Sekulic pulled down 10 rebounds for Aris, that led 10-18 early. Roby led a game-breaking 16-0 run that allowed Bnei to get a 41-32 edge at halftime. Aris trailed 69-55 midway through the fourth quarter but Tsaldaris led a rain of three-pointer that brought the guests within 86-85 with seconds to go. Roby sealed the outcome from the foul lines.
Sekulic got Aris going with a layup-plus-foul while Tsaldaris and Clark soon added back-to-back triples for a 2-9 Aris edge. Cisse stepped up for Bnei while Tsaldaris sank a jumper to keep Aris ahead, 6-13. Tapiro nailed a jumper but Spencer Nelson answered from downtown to boost Aris' lead to 8-16. Cisse scored in the paint, James added a layup while a three-pointer by Tapiro brought the hosts back in the game, 15-18, after 10 minutes. Roby scored right at the start of the second quarter but Savvas Iliadis sank a big triple. James matched that with a three-point play while a dunk by Roby gave Bnei its first lead, 22-21. Both teams went scoreless for more than 2 minutes until Roby nailed a triple while Erez Katz made 4-for-4 free throws free throws. Aris kept struggling to score while Cisse and Roby capped a 16-0 Bnei run with consecutive baskets. Clark stepped up for Aris with a triple while Lazaros Agadakos and Nikos Barlos soon added free throws for a 37-30 Aris deficit. James and Tapiro allowed Bnei to keep a 41-32 lead at halftime.
Tsaldaris nailed a triple right after the break but Tapiro fed Ugonna Onyekwe for a dunk and then sank a jumper for a 45-35 Bnei margin. Nelson made free throws that Roby matched with a big basket, as Aris only managed to trade baskets now. Tapiro sank a jumper to make it a 12-point game, 49-37. Nikos Argyropoulos struck from downtown while Nelson and Sekulic brought Aris back to life, 51-44. Onyekwe followed a jumper with another dunk while a three-point play by Sean Munson kept Bnei way ahead, 59-50, after 30 minutes. Onyekwe scored down low early in the fourth quarter, igniting a 7-2 Bnei run highlighted by Roby's triple for a 66-52 margin. Tsaldaris fired in another three-pointer but a layup-plus-foul by James made the guests call timeout at 69-55. Aris needed a quick comeback to keep its options alive and Tsaldaris trying to ignite one with a put-back layup and a triple. Clark also struck from downtown for a 75-68 Aris deficit. Clark scored again but Roby gave Bnei some fresh air with free throws, 79-71. Three-pointers by Tsaldaris and Sean Marshall got Aris back in the game, 82-80. Tapiro and Clark traded free throws, Belcher sank foul shots but once again Tsaldaris struck from downtown to make it a one-point game, 86-85. Roby sank 3-for-4 free throws in the final second to seal the outcome.
