Brose Baskets Bamberg picked up its second victory in Group A of the ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT in Rome by knocking off Maccabi Teddy Tel Aviv 74-67. Tibor Taras scored 18 points and Leon Kratzer collected 15 points, 21 rebounds, one assist and one block as Brose improved to 2-1 in the group. Daniel Keppeler added 11 points and Moritz Sanders chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds in the win. Maccabi lost its third straight game to fall to 0-3 despite Adam Salkind scoring 20 points and Dragan Bender picking up 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one block.

Tel Aviv led early 2-5 but Brose scored seven straight points for a 9-5 lead. Six consecutive points pushed the cushion to 18-9 and Bamberg was up 23-12 after one quarter. Maccabi trimmed it to 23-16, but Brose went on a 9-0 surge to push the margin to 35-18. Macabi finished the final 2:10 minutes of the first half with an 0-8 run to close to within 35-26 at intermission.

Salkind hit back-to-back shots to bring the gap to 35-30. Salkind scored again and two Bender free throws had Maccabi as close as 41-38. But a Sanders three-ball started an 11-0 Bamberg run over more than 3 minutes as the German club opened a 52-38 lead. And the team was up 55-42 after three quarters. After a Salkind three to start the fourth quarter, Bamberg scored seven straight points to re-establish a 17-point lead. Maccabi did not give up and was able to get the deficit down to 64-58 with four minutes left. Taras nailed back-to-back three-balls to make it a 70-58 lead. But Maccabi would not go away with Omer Birnfeld scoring to cut the gap to 72-67 with 57 seconds to play. However, Sanders and Taras both split two free throws in the final 24 seconds to secure the win.
