Bayern rallies to beat Maccabi

U18 FC Bayern Munich rallied from a double-digit deficit to defeat U18 Maccabi Teddy Tel Aviv 85-71 in Group A of the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Finals at Polideportivo Mendizorrotza on Saturday morning. Bayern finished with a 2-1 record in second place, while Maccabi has one win and two losses in third place. Matej Rudan was scoreless in the first half but finished as Bayern’s top scorer with 19 points. Jason George had 15, Filip Skobalj collected 13 points and 8 rebounds, while Lennart Weber added 12 points in the victory. Deni Avdija paced Maccabi amassing 28 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Amit Aharoni scored 13, and Yonatan Atias had 12 points in defeat. Maccabi was up by as many as 12 points in the third quarter, but Bayern rallied and its first lead came in the fourth quarter. A 13-2 run, capped by Rudan’s three-pointer, put Bayern up 73-66, and it never looked back.
