U18 ALBA Berlin will play for fifth place at the EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Torneig de Bàsquet Junior Ciutat de L’Hospitalet after beating U18 Union Olimpija Ljubljana 58-81 for its first victory in Group A. Philipp Herkenhoff led Berlin with 20 points while Gabriel Salijevic picked up 14 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Berlin improved to 1-2 and secured third place in Group A and will next take on the third placed team in Group B. Olimpija remained winless at 0-3 despite 16 points and 4 rebounds from Maksim Gorbachov.

Herkenhoff and Badu Buck both scored 5 points as Berlin opened a 0-14 lead. Gorbahchov finally got Olimpija on the scoreboard with a three-pointer after nearly 6 minutes. Nemanja Scekic hit 6 points as Olimpija pulled to within 14-21 after 10 minutes. Olimpija continued to get closer and finally evened the game at 29-29 on a basket by Dan Osrecki. Berlin went into the halftime break up 29-33. Berlin opened the second half with the first 4 points to make it 29-39 and Herkenhoff’s three-pointer made it 31-44. Berlin would not let Olimpija back into the game, especially with Hendrik Drescher and Herkenhoff leading the way for a 37-56 gap after three quarters. Jan Blatnik and Fin Drazovic both knocked down three-pointers in the fourth quarter to get Olimpija as close as 47-61 but Salijevic and Drescher both connected from long range as well as Berlin would not let them back into the game.
