Nizhny Novgorod escaped from Ankara with a thrilling 72-73 win over Akyon TED Ankara Kolejliler. Dmitriy Khvostov scored from downtown with 4 seconds left after the visitors used a 2-20 run to open the last quarter to come back from 14 down after three quarters. Nizhny Novgorod improved to 3-1 in Group F, while Akyon TED Ankara slipped to 1-3. Primoz Brezec paced the winners by scoring 26 points, Dijon Thompson added 20 and Vadim Panin contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Vladimir Golubovic amassed 26 points and 10 boards for a performance index rating of 38, while Vanja Plisnic bagged 19 points in defeat.

A Thompson three-pointer gave an early 4-5 lead to the visitors, while Clay Tucker, also from long distance, pushed the home team to the first double digit margin, 21-11. A Brezec jumper made it 21-13 after 10 minutes. Seven points in a row by Golubovic raised the difference to 32-17, but on the opposite side center Brezec answered with 7 in a run of 10 unanswered points by Nizhny Novgorod to climb within 34-30. Golubovic made a layup and Thompson a free throw to fix the halftime advantage at 41-36 for Aykon TED Ankara. A 15-2 charge opening the second half capped by Muhammed Baygul from the foul line gave a comfortable 56-38 margin to the home team. Vadim Panin and Thompson tried to keep Nizhny Novgorod in the picture, but 2 free throws nailed by Aleksandar Rasic made it 60-46 at the end of the third quarter. The momentum changed early in the fourth quarter when an outstanding 2-20 run with 6 points from Brezec and 5 from Luke Babbitt gave to the Russian side a 62-66 advantage. With a minute left in the game, Tucker scored from mid-range to put Aykon TED Ankara in front 69-68, but with 4 seconds left Khvostov scored from downtown to give Nizhny Novgorod an incredible win.

"There is nothing surprising in this case. We looked sluggish in the first half and early in the third segment. However, in the fourth quarter, the team was gritting its teeth and doing what is required. Good solutions on defense and good implementation in offense allowed Nizhny back in the game and put the squeeze on opponents. I thank the guys for their precise performance in the final seconds."
