Khimki survived an incredible overtime thriller and stayed unbeaten in difficult Group D by edging Anwil Wloclawek 99-102 in overtime on the road on tuesday. Khimki improved to 4-0 in Group D and set a big showdown with Pamesa Valencia for the top spot in this group next week. Meanwhile, Anwil dropped to 1-3 after this unbelievable home loss. Daniel Ewing was the game hero, leading the winners with 30 points and fueling an incredible comeback in arguably one the best games seen in the ULEB Cup this season. Ewing had 16 points in the last 6 minutes, including 9 in the final minute of regulation, to help his team to stay alive and win it in overtime. Anwil led 86-81 already in the final minute but Ewing stroke from downtown, added free throws and buried a running triple to force overtime, 89-89. Vladimir Dyachok added 17 points, Kelly McCarty had 16, Vitaliy Fridzon 14 and Teemu Rannikko 12 for Khimki. Gerrod Henderson led Anwil with 25 points on 17-for-18 free throws. Patrick Okafor added 18, Andrzej Pluta had 13 and Lukasz Koszarek 12 for the hosts.

Ewing and McCarty stroke from downtown in an early 0-8 Khimki run and even when Henderson and Pluta tried to change things for Anwil. Fridzon gave Khimki a 7-12 edge. Pluta answered from downtown but Mike Wilkinson and Fridzon kept the guests ahead, 12-18. Alan Daniels had 5 points in a 9-0 run that Okafor capped with a layup for a 21-18 Anwil edge. Free throws by Rannikko and Anton Ponkrashov got Khimki within 23-22 after 10 minutes. Anwil regained its momentum, Okafor and Pluta fueled an 11-0 run that Wiktor Grudzinzki capped with a triple for a 34-25 lead. Ewing tried to ignit the guests' comeback with 4 quick points while Dyachok added a triple for a 40-35 Khimki deficit. Koszarek followed a jumper with a triple but Dyachok, McCarty and a final basket by Rannikko got Khimki back in the game, 46-44, at halftime. Khimki opened the third quarter with a 0-6 run highlighted by Ewing's big basket, good for a 46-50 edge. Okafor and Zeljko Zagorac helped Anwil to regain the lead, 54-52. Dyachok and Fridzon kept pacing Khimki but a three-point play by Henderson made Anwil get a 61-58 edge. Okafor followed a layup-plus-foul with a put-back basket while Henderson gave Anwil a five-point cushion, 68-63, after 30 minutes. Ewing got Khimki back in the game, 72-70, with 6 minutes to go. Daniels stroke from downtown but Fridzon and Dyachok allowed Khimki to tie it at 76-76. Henderson scored in the other end but McCarty scored and Dyachok completed the guests' comeback, 78-80, but Henderson hit 4 free throws for a 82-80 Anwil edge with a minute to go. Rannikko missed a key shot and Khimki opted to foul on Bartlomiej Woloszyn, who almost sealed the outcome with more free throws. Ewing had other ideas in mind and got the guests within 86-84. Henderson made 1 of 2 free throws while Ewing did not miss for a 87-86 Khimki deficit. Henderson hit foul shots but a red hot Ewing buried an unbelievable triple that sent the game to overtime, 89-89.

An unstoppable Ewing kept his momentum going in the extra period with a basket and a three-point play, good for a 89-94 Khimki edge. Anwil went scoreless in the opening 2 minutes of the overtime but Koszarek made free throws to give the hosts some hope, 91-94. Dunn had a big block on Wilkinson while Woloszyn got Anwil even closer, 93-94. Okafor missed the go-ahead shot, however, while Ewing made free throws and McCarty added a critical put-back basket to seal the outcome, 93-98. Anwil ran out of time while Rannikko hit 4 foul shots to round an incredible road win for Khimki.
