A dominant night on the boards and better shooting in general confirmed, with an 83-72 final score, why Gravelines is the top team in Group A and Jabones Pardo Fuenlabra is the bottom one. Gravelines rode a 42-30 rebounding advantage and relentless inside scoring to clinch first place with a 7-2 record, one game before the end of the regular season. Cedric Miller led the board work with 15 rebounds and added 4 blocks for good measure to lead the winning defensive effort. Danny Strong led his team with 23 points. Tony Windless added 15 and 8 rebounds, Ali Bouziane 11 points and Frankie King 10 for Gravelines. Jabones Pardo fell to 2-7 and a sure last-place finish despite 23 points and 12 rebounds from Walter Herrmann and 23 points off the bench from Richard Scott. Gravelines staked its claim on the lead early, shooting to a 24-18 lead after 10 minutes. It nursed that lead throughout the middle quarters, leading 43-36 at the half and 58-50 after 30 minutes, before poured on the points to keep Jabones Pardo at bay in the final period.

Head Coaches

MONSCHAU, JEAN-LUC
BCM Gravelines
"Even if Fuenlabrada had only a little chance to reach the next round before this game, even if they played without one of their most important players, Solana, they came in France in order to win. We had the game we could expect from them. So we had to make a very serious game, especially in defense. In offense, we had too many turnovers to make a deadly break in the first half. It was important to win, as it seems that this will offer us the first place of the group."
QUINTANA, OSCAR
Jabones Pardo Fuenlabrada
"We missed Francesc Solana who stayed in Spain after his injury against Real Madrid last Sunday. The ULEB Cup is a bonus, a gift for us this season, so was the Korac Cup we played last year. We played tonight better than we did the first game against Gravelines but unfortunately we didn't hit the 3-point shoots and we didn't get the rebounds. We stayed very close to Gravelines during the game but Gravelines has run the game efficiently to keep a 5 or 6-point lead. Good luck to Gravelines for the next round."

Players

STRONG, DANNY
BCM Gravelines
"It was an exciting game as we knew that we were fighting for the leadership of the group. Every player came out focused on the way to win this game. Now let's see what will happen later."
ANTUNEZ, JOSE MIGUEL
Jabones Pardo Fuenlabrada
"We still had a little chance to qualify tonight, so, as professional players, we came here to play the best we can. But Gravelines has a strong team because so many people can score. We played a good defense with a zone, but they hit important shots and they won."
