Asseco Prokom Gdynia improved its frontcourt right before its Turkish Airlines Euroleague home opener on Wednesday by inking scoring guard Alex Acker for the remainder of the season, the club announced Tuesday. Acker (1.96 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Le Mans Sarthe Basket, where he averaged 10.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 8 Eurocup games last season. He helped Le Mans to reach the French League title game, where it finished second to Elan Chalon-sur-Saone. Acker has also played for AJ Milano in Italy, FC Barcelona in Spain, Olympiacos in Greece, Los Angeles Clippers and Detroit in the NBA and Fayetteville and Fort Wayne in the NBA Development League. He helped Barcelona to make it to the Spanish League finals in 2008 and also reached the Greek League title series with Olympiacos in 2007. Acker carries Euroleague career averages of 9.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals over 48 games.
