Partizan NIS loses Westermann to knee injury
Leo Westermann - Partizan NIS Belgrade - EB13Partizan NIS Belgrade suffered a big blow to its hopes of reaching the Turkish Airlines Top 16 when it was confirmed Monday that starting point guard Leo Westermann's knee injury will likely sideline him for the remainder of the season. Westermann (1.96 meters, 21 years old) hurt his right knee early in Partizan's 88-46 road loss to CSKA Moscow on Friday. Westermann had to be helped off the court late in the first quarter after a collision as he drove past Jeremy Pargo of CSKA. Partizan was playing the game without two more injured starters, center Dejan Musli and swingman Tarence Kinsey. It is the same knee that Westermann injured in 2009 and which took him six months to recover from. This season, Westermann had averaged 7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in the first five Turkish Airlines Euroleague games. Partizan NIS will start looking for a point guard to fill in for Westermann for the rest of the campaign.
