Russian runners-up Nizhny Novgorod started building a roster for its Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut next season by re-signing point guard Evgeny Baburin for two more years. Baburin (1.90 meters, 27 years old) had already played the last two seasons in Nizhny Novgorod in his second stint with the team. He averaged 2.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 20 Eurocup appearances over 16 minutes per game last season. He helped the team reach the semifinals in its Eurocup debut, losing to eventual champ Valencia Basket. Baburin started his pro career in Nizhny Novgorod in 2003-04 and played there until 2007-08. He played then for other Russian teams like TEMP-SUMZ Revda and Spartak Primorie Vladivostok before going back to Novgorod in 2011-12.
