Pops Mensah-Bonsu - Galatasaray Liv Hospital

Olympiacos Piraeus, active early in building its roster for next season, has added one of the most dynamic big men in basketball, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, on a two-year deal announced Monday. Mensah-Bonsu (2.06 meters, 30 years old) just played the third Euroleague season of his career with Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul. After arriving to Galatasary as an early-season injury replacement, Mensah-Bonsu proceeded to start eight of 18 games. He helped Galatasaray reach the playoffs for the first time with averages of 8.4 points and 6.5 rebounds in 21 minutes per game. He ranked fifth in average rebounds among all Euroleague players. He and Galatasaray finished as runners-up in the Turkish League, too. Mensah-Bonsu had played parts of two previous Euroleague seasons. He debuted with Joventut Badalona in 2008, but after earning Week 2 MVP honors, was injured for the rest of the season. The next season, he joined CSKA Moscow for the Top 16 and came off the bench in nine games to help the team advance to the Final Four in Paris. He made his European debut with Benetton Treviso in 2007-08, putting up 10 points and 8.4 rebounds over 11 Eurocup games. Mensah-Bonsu's pro career has seen him play for NBA teams in Dallas, San Antonio, Toronto, Houston and New Orleans. He also played parts of seasons for Asvel of France, Sevilla of Spain and EA7 Emporio Armani MIlan of Italy. In his only full season with one team besides Benetton, he won the 2012 FIBA Eurochallenge by averaging 12.8 points and 11.8 for Besiktas JK Istanbul. He has also won national titles with CSKA in Russia and Besiktas in Turkey.
