Nizhny Novgorod announced on Tuesday that the new head coach for its Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut will be Ainars Bagatskis, who has signed a one-year deal with the Russian club. Bagatskis, 47, arrives from Budivelnik Kiev, where last season he took that team to a 2-8 record in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Regular Season and later a quarterfinals appearance in the Eurocup, losing to Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade. Bagatskis won the 2012-13 and 2013-14 Ukranian League titles with Budivelnik and the 2014 Ukranian Cup. He also had a previous stint in the Euroleague with Zalgiris Kaunas of Lithuania, in 2006. Since 2010, he is also head coach of the Latvian national team.
