The new-look 2014-15 Anadolu Efes Istanbul squad will have Dontaye Draper running the show after the sides agreed on a two-year deal. Draper (1.81 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Turkish Airlines Euroleague runner-up Real Madrid, for whom he averaged 1.7 points, 1.3 assists and 0.8 steals over 20 Euroleague games in a reserve role. He was second in the league in steals per minute, with a prorated average of 2.85 steals over 40 minutes; only his new teammate, Dogus Blabay, had more. Draper was unable to participate in the Final Four in Milan after suffering a broken bone in his right arm. Draper spent a total of two season in Madrid and helped the team to a pair of Euroleague Championship Game appearances as well as the 2013 Spanish League Crown and the 2014 Copa del Rey.
Draper rose to European prominence as the 2010-11 Eurocup MVP with Cedevita Zagreb. He led Cedevita from the Eurocup Qualifying Round to the Finals with 15.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 2.2 steals in 14 Eurocup games. He was Eurocup leader that season in assists and performance index ranking (20.9 per game).Draper played two seasons for Cedevita and helped the club reach the Croatian League finals twice, the 2011 Adriatic League title game and win the 2012 Croatian Cup. He previously suited up for Prima Veroli in the Italian second division, BC Ostend in Belgium, Hyeres-Toulon Var Basket in France and Sydney Kings in Australia. He helped Sydney to reach the Australian League finals in 2008 and won the Italian second division cup with Veroli.
