VEF Riga keeps getting ready for its Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds debut against Strasbourg with the announcement of forward Mareks Mejeris for the next season. Mejeris (2.07 meters, 22 years old) arrives from the Spanish League, where last season he played with Fuenlabrada. In 9 games, he totalled 18 points and 18 rebounds. After that, he was sent on loan to Burgos of the second division, a team that managed to promote to the first division for next season. In 18 games with Burgos, Mejeris averaged 6.1 points and 5.4 rebounds. Mejeris made his debut with BK Liepajas lauvas of his native Latvia in 2007. In 2011 he first moved to Spain as he signed for CB Clavijo of the second division.
