Unics adds veteran center Fischer
Dor Fischer - Brose Baskets Bamberg

Turkish Airlines Euroleague hopeful Unics Kazan added size and experience to its roster by inking center D'or Fischer to a one-year deal on Sunday. Fischer (2.11 meters, 32 years old) arrives from Brose Baskets Bamberg, where he averaged 9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2 blocks in four Euroleague games last season. When Bamberg joined the Eurocup, Fischer boosted his numbers to 12.5 points on 72.3% two-point shooting, 4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in six games. He helped Bamberg reach the German League final and led that competition in blocks at 2.6 per game.

Fischer has played four previous Euroleague seasons for three teams. He averaged 7.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 19 Euroleague games for Bilbao Basket in 2011-12, which he helped reach the Euroleague playoffs in the club’s maiden season in Europe’s premier competition. He further produced 8.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in the 2011-12 Spanish League. The previous season he helped Real Madrid reach the Euroleague Final Four. Fischer has also played for Euphony Bree, where he was named the 2007-08 Belgian League MVP after leading the league in rebounds, blocked shots and index ranking, EWE Baskets Oldenburg, with whom he led the German League in blocked shots in the 2006-07 season; Anwil Wloclawek in Poland, Donetsk in Ukraine and Maccabi Tel Aviv, with whom he made his Euroleague debut in 2008 and won one Israeli League crown and one Israeli Cup in two seasons.

Fischer ranks second on the Euroleague career charts in blocks per game (1.52 bpg.), trailing only Shawn James (1.55 bpg.), currently of EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, and is fifth in two-point shooting percentage (64.95%). Fischer will now try to take Unics back to the Euroleague through the Qualifying Rounds
