Real Madrid had another dominant display, and fellow Spanish club Laboral Kutxa Vitoria lost in a dramatic fashion to conclude the Euroamerican Cup, organized by Direct TV on Sunday. Real Madrid downed Guerreros 67-79 in Bogota, Columbia as Jaycee Carroll netted 13 of his 19 points in the first half to lead Los Blancos to a big 23-point halftime margin, paving the way to victory. Madrid returns home from the tour of the Americas with a pair of victories, while Laboral Kutxa split its games in South America after a dramatic 79-78 loss against Penarol in Mar de Plata, Argentina, meaning the Turkish Airlines Euroleague teams finished the Euroamerican Cup with a combined 3-1 record.
Madrid stormed out of the gate in Bogota, building 8-18 lead after the first quarter. With Carroll leading the way, margin kept getting larger in the second quarter, and with Madrid’s defense holding the hosts to only 18 points before the break, Spanish side held 18-41 halftime advantage. After the break, the squad of the head coach Pablo Laso cruised to victory, with Sergio Llull and Andres Nocioni finishing the game with 11 points apiece, while Rudy Fernandez and Salah Mejri each contributed 9 points in victory. Jezreel de Jesús Carmona of Guerreros was game’s top scorer with 28 points.
Clash of Laboral Kutxa and Penarol featured several runs on both sides. Fernando San Emeterio and Davis Bertans hit triples in a 4-13 spurt that had Laboral go up 28-32 in the second quarter, however the host team went on to hold 42-37 halftime lead.
