In a week that saw history made, one of the Euroleague’s premier shooters turned in his best effort yet to claim Regular Season Round 3 bwin MVP honors. Jaycee Carroll of Real Madrid scored a career-high 32 points and tied a team record with 7 three-pointers made to lead his team to a 112-83 victory over Nizhny Novgorod. Carroll also drew 7 fouls and was perfect in 5 trips to the line as he compiled a performance index rating of 37, which was not only the best in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague for Round 3, but the highest in the competition this season. Carroll had stiff competition for the weekly honor as former Euroleague MVP Vassilis Spanoulis of Olympiacos Piraeus and Brian Randle of Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv each posted index ratings of 34 in victory. Spanoulis scored a career-high 34 points as the Reds bested Neptunas Klaipeda 81-85 after overtime. He also totaled 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals. Randle rocked with his finest Euroleague performance to date, leading Maccabi to a 69-84 road win over his former team, ALBA Berlin, with 25 points on near-perfect shooting plus 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. Next on the list of the week’s top performances was Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade center Boban Marjanovic, who tallied a 27 index in a 76-63 victory over Valencia Basket. Marjanovic, who was the Round 1 bwin MVP, went for 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Rounding out the list of the week’s best were Nenad Krstic of Anadolu Efes Istanbul and Justin Doelmann of FC Barcelona, who both had 25 index ratings.
