ALBA Berlin has extended contract with its guard Akeem Vargas, signing him through 2016-17 season, the club announced on Sunday. Vargas (1.92 meters, 24 years old) is in his second season in Berlin. In 12 games this Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut season he has been averaging 12 minutes per game off the bench, posting 1.7 points with all his field goals coming behind the three-point arc (shooting 6 of 15 for three-points). Meanwhile, Vargas currently leads the German League with 52.6% accuracy from the three-point range. Last season, in 20 games during his debut Eurocup campaign, Vargas averaged 3.6 points and 2.1 rebounds as ALBA reached the quarterfinals. Before joining Alba in the summer of 2013, Vargas spent a year with Goetingen. He made his professional debut with Ehingen in German third division, and was with the club in German second division while on loan from Tuebingen.
